Some fonts have been designed to exaggerate the differences between easily-confused characters, thereby making it easier to spot problems during proofreading. Try the following free fonts:
MacWord doesn't offer an automatic function for viewing documents side by side. If you want to do this, you'll need to manually resize and reposition the windows. To resize a window, move the mouse cursor over any side of the window until it turns into an arrowhead. Hold down the mouse button and drag the edge of the window in the desired direction to change its size, then release the mouse button when you're done.
To move a window, click the cursor on the title bar at the top of the document window, hold down the mouse button, and drag the window to its new position.
The JAWS screen-reader software is only available for Windows, but the following options are available on the Mac:
The Mac's built-in text-to-speech utility can be activated by opening the System Preferences, and selecting the Accessibility preferences:
Select the Speech preference pane, then select the checkbox “Speak selected text when the key is pressed” (change the keyboard shortcut if so desired), then choose the voice that will be used to read selected text and its speed:
