Call to action: share my food security white paper!

Dear friends and colleagues:

For more than 30 years, I’ve worked with leading scientists around the world to publish their research on global warming and its risks for humanity and ecosystems. Based on current climate trends, I’ve become convinced that despite Canada’s formerly high degree of food security, we’re increasingly at risk of widespread crop failures that will jeopardize our ability to continue feeding Canadians. I’ve therefore prepared a white paper that discusses why this unprecedented problem will soon affect Canada, and the measures we must take now to prepare ourselves before it becomes difficult to ensure a safe supply of food for all Canadians.

Though my recommendations focus on Canada’s situation, many will be equally relevant in other countries. Please feel free to borrow my text, revise it to fit your own country’s context, and share it with your friends and colleagues—and your elected representatives. I've provided a Microsoft Word version and a PDF version that you can distribute or modify to meet your own needs.

If you agree with what I’ve written, simply send a link to the white paper (***NOT*** to the present page) to your member of Parliament and relevant cabinet ministers. If you only agree with some parts, send the parts that you support.

To minimize the risk that recipients will treat this message as spam if they receive many copies, include a clear statement at the start of your message that you are writing to support the recommendations in the white paper and that you are asking the recipients to act upon those recommendations.

With your help, we can convince the government to move beyond words alone to do what’s necessary to save thousands of lives in the future.

Sincerely,

Geoff Hart
